DP1_Interaction: the story

Interaction is my second project. Nowadays, internet is web 2.0, so the interaction is indispensable. In the first class, Talita show us a video. The special thing is that we can see different development of story by our choice. Then she showed us other students’ works. So, our task is design a story, and create a website by Dreamweaver. Before I studied Dreamweaver, but I forget it all. I just know it is very difficult. And we start thing our story.

My first idea is that the story is about my life. Because this is easy to think and more funny I think. Then I saw my timetable. I think maybe Jools’s lecture is a good idea. Because if you are late in his lecture, you have to choose go home or dancing! I think this choice can be a part of my story. Then I developed this idea: the story has 2 main line: one is I am late then go to class: the other one is I go on sleep. Then I draw the boxes on my book. But Talita told me my story lack of place: just school and home. She suggested me I can add a dream when i sleep. I can add anything funny things in my dream. I think this is a good idea. So I add that the student will have a dream.

I have a opinion: I saw some people’s work is if you go wrong way, you must go back and choose the right way. But I hope my story is the development of story is by user’s choice. You choose different action, you will get different endings. Finally, I have 5 endings in my story.

DP1_Filmmaking: Feedback

I show Deborah my first video, I got some feedback form her.

1.       The sound of tram is too loud. I should use other sound of environment to cover it.

2.       The color is different between shoot.

3.       The flashback too short when the victim speaking. It maybe can make people confuse what happened.

4.       The video is too quite, I should add some sound effect. DO NOT add background music.

5.  Some shoot are repeat.

Deborah told me my other is no problem, just care about the above points.

Then I think I should add some sound, sound can make people get more emotion. And delete some parts, make video become more direct. And I will do my best to change the brightness. Anyway, I will upload my final version of the film.

DP1_Filmmaking: Process

My first project is filmmaking. I like filmmaking very much. I never use these professional devices before, so I felt exciting.

First I want to thank for my members of group: Jack, Kieran Zoe and Zoe. They are very nice guys! My English is poor, but they often patiently help me. Thank them!

We decided the story in class, it is about Robin Hoody. And second day jack brought the script. Then we booked the devices. This is preparation work.

We shot video in Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday we just shot some environment of Nottingham, including shots of the tram, arboretum, Robin Hood statue and castle. On Wednesday we shot video in Zoe’s home and the arboretum.

In the shooting, we follow the script to shoot. We tried to shot form different ways: establishing shot, long shot, mid-shot and a close- up shot. We shot a lot of video. we hope when we edit it we can have enough materials. The process of shoot was well. We discussed what are next then shot. We know we should avoid the unrelated things such as our bag and the microphone in the shoot. Anyway, we done this part.

Next part is editing the film. Actually, I like editing. I almost done this film cost my one night. My edit decision is that the victim talk what happened, include a short flashback. Then witness told us what she see. Finally the Robin Hoody say something.

When I editing this film, I think the color is different between videos, for example, I want to add a close up shot in a long shot, but the close up shot darker than long shot. This is looks like very strange. I tried to use some effect to set it lighter, but….not very well. Because before I already made videos by Premiere, I haven’t big problem when I made this one.

Rule of Thirds & 5 Seconds Film

After jool's lecture, i know what is the rule of thirds. Actually before i know some things about the rule of thirds. In my digital camera can set the imaginary lines to take photo. 

i reviewed the lecture PDF file. I know the rule of thirds "will make for a more energetic and interesting composition". So in the future i should care about the crossing point.

The video is shaky, it just a exercise╮(╯_╰)╭.

My Design Process

My last creative works are 2 videos. The project is Urban Environment. My first idea is about the different between day and night. There are different numbers of people at different place in different time. In the daytime, nightclubs close the door, nobody at there. But in the nighttime, there are so many people in there. I think this point is interesting. Then I researched culture of club and some elements about night, and also how to present the different.

The other idea is form a photograph. The photo shows that a kid takes a telephone for a walk, looks like takes a dog. I think it is funny. The photo inspires me. I think if one adult play a toy, maybe which will make people thinks more.

I think the speed of life is too fast in Urban Environment. People just care about their work and money. So I want to people think more natural things. If I design a scene which a man plays a toy, I think it can present some social issue. The man and the toy have special meanings.

Then I took lots of video for sketch. I try to take video in different way. For example, I hold camera and running and shooting on the street. I try to take different angle and shake the camera. Then I copy to PC turn the color and some simple by Premier. I often see video on internet. The kind of video I like it very much. So I want to add this element in my video.

(I dont know how to call this type of video in English, this video is the most famous i think)

Anyway, the most important is that I enjoy the process very much! I think what angle is better; I made an outline of a story and drew storyboard, I cut the video and made the effect. The whole process made me emotional.
